Six European comedy festivals to be announced
Leading stand-up promoters Live Nation are to announce a series of six comedy festivals across Europe tomorrow – the very day Britain leaves the EU.
Each Comedy Stop Europe festival will run for three nights this September at venues in Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki, Paris and Amsterdam. The focus will be on hour-long shows for English-speaking international acts as well as platforms for local comedians.
No acts have yet been confirmed. Mo Gilligan has a gig booked in the Paris venue – the Apollo Theatre – on the weekend the festival visits, but is not part of the event.
President of Live Nation’s European comedy touring division, Ian Coburn, Live Nation’s president of European comedy touring, said: ‘With the success of global streaming, the demand for English speaking comedy is growing especially in Europe and we want to help artists with a gateway to these exiting territories and others in future years’.’
The shows will be programmed from the UK by Live Nation’s Anna Cooke, who said the festivals would ‘complement the comedic strand at our music festivals Download, Latitude, Wilderness Reading Leeds, and Electric Picnic’.
The festivals will be at

September 3-5: Oslo Latter
September 10-12: Stockholm Sodra Teatern and Scandic Hotel
September 10-12: Helsinki Korjaamo
