Chris Sussman heads for streaming giant, say reports

The former head of BBC Studios’ comedy unit is set to join Netflix.

Chris Sussman will be director of the team responsible for commissioning scripted programmes for the streaming services.

During his time at the BBC’s commercial production arm, he oversaw shows including This Country, Famalam and Inside No 9.

Before that he was a BBC comedy commissioner for five years, where he ordered Fleabag for BBC Three.

Industry website Deadline reports that Sussman will take up new his role after completing a secret BBC Studios comedy series for Apple, starring Rafe Spall and Imelda Staunton and provisionally titled Alabama

Chris Sussman, announced he was leaving the BBC Studios in March after three years there.
