Miles Jupp to make his RSC debut
Miles Jupp is to make his Royal Shakespeare Company debut.
The comic will play Antipholus of Syracuse in The Comedy of Errors, which runs at Stratford-upon-Avon from April to October next year.
The RSC’s artistic director Gregory Doran said: ‘The Comedy of Errors is one of Shakespeare’s earliest plays and one of his funniest.
‘The action takes place in the Mediterranean port of Ephesus where two sets of identical twins separated since childhood are re-united, but not until a great deal of confusion ensues.’
Antipholus of Syracuse is one of the more senior pair of twins.
Jupp’s acting credits include John Duggan in The Thick of It and Nigel in the sitcom Rev – and he recently enjoyed a successful stage outing playing The Life I Lead, a biographical play about quintessential English actor David Tomlinson
The new production of The Comedy of Errors will be directed by Phillip Breen, who just directed The Provoked Wife for the RSC.
