Tribute gig on his 54th birthday, as his last stand-up gig is aired

Friends of Sean Hughes are to pay tribute by performing some of the late comedian’s work on what would have been his 54th birthday.

And on the same day, his last recorded stand-up show will air in the UK for the first time. Radio 4 Extra will broadcast a performance recorded at the Project Arts Centre in Dublin in February 2016 for Ireland’s RTE Radio 1, 20 months before his death.

Adam Hills will compere the charity tribute night with performers including Terry Alderton, Ben Bailey Smith, Dave Cohen, Dave Fulton, John Hegley and Reece Shearsmith

Also reading Hughes's written work are actors Connie Hyde, Ella Kennion, Caroline Harker plus musician David Gedge, founder of The Wedding Present.

It’s (Still) What He Would've Wanted will take place at the Soho Theatre in London from 7pm on November 10. Tickets, priced £20 and in aid of Shelter, will be available from the venue from noon today.

And if you can’t wait for the Radio 4 Extra broadcast of Sean’s Last Show, it’s available here:
