Phoenix Nights comes to theatres

...but only for a screening of the original C4 sitcom

Phoenix Nights is to hit two of the biggest theatres in London and Manchester.

But it’s not a new stage show – just a screening of the original Channel 4 comedy, 19 years after it aired.

The first two series are to be shown in their entirety at the 4,000-capacity Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith in January and the 3,500-capacity O2 Apollo in Manchester in February in aid of Cancer Research UK.

The screenings will also include cast interviews recorded for the occasions. Organisers also suggest: ‘Why not dress up as one of your favourite characters, although wheelchair spaces will be limited.’

Caro Evans, at Cancer Research UK said ‘We are so grateful to Peter [Kay]  for arranging these unique screenings of such an iconic TV series to raise money. The money that is raised from the events will fund vital research to beat cancer.’

In London, series one will be shown on the evening of Friday January 3, with series 2 the following night. Or both series will be screened back-to-back during the day on Saturday.

In Manchester, the same pattern will happen over the weekend of Friday February 7 and Saturday February 8.

It costs £15 to see one series or £25 to see both, either on successuve nights or on the Saturday matinee.

Tickets go on sale at 9am this Saturday.
