The 60million dollar woman
Phoebe Waller-Bridge has signed a major deal with Amazon Prime, fresh from her success at the Emmys.
The Fleabag creator is now committed to develop several projects for the streaming platform.
Details are being kept under wraps, but Variety reports the deal is worth $20million a year, and Deadline reports that the pact is for three years.
Fleabag, which is already available on Amazon Prime in the US, won six Emmys – including best comedy and best comedy actress for Waller-Bridge herself.
She said today: ‘I’m insanely excited to be continuing my relationship with Amazon. Working with the team on Fleabag was the creative partnership dreams are made of. It really feels like home. I can’t wait to get going!’
Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, added: ‘We are thrilled to be continuing our partnership with Phoebe at Amazon Studios. As evident in her great success at the Emmy Awards this week, she is clever, brilliant, generous and a virtuoso on multiple fronts including writing, acting and producing.
‘Fleabag has been a gift to our Prime Video customers and we are excited for what comes next from this brilliant mind to dazzle and delight our global audience.’
Waller-Bridge also adapted Luke Jennings's Vilannelle character into Killing Eve, and has been drafted in to the new James Bond film, No Time To Die, reportedly to make the female characters more believable.
