Ed and Oucho make comeback
Ed and Oucho – the CBBC presenting duo of comedian Ed Petrie and a talking cactus – has been revived after almost a decade away.
The pair were the afternoon continuity announces for children’s programming from 2007 until early 2010 and had their own spin-off series Ed and Oucho's Excellent Inventions and Transmission Impossible.
Now they are back for a new YouTube channel, with five new mini-episodes coming out this week, featuring Marek Larwood and Gemma Arrowsmith in guest roles.
Petrie told Chortle: ‘We haven’t made any new content since January 2010 and still get asked by fans a lot about when it might come back.’
He added that comedy fans often stumbled on old footage online as their CBBC broadcasts featured guest stars such as Greg Davies, Isy Suttie, Pappy’s, Doc Brown, The Penny Dreadfuls and Lorna Watson.
Voiced by puppeteer Warrick Brownlow-Pike, Oucho T. Cactus speaks in the incomprehensible language ‘Cactinian’ and loves bananas and Dolly Parton.
After the duo left CBBC, Brownlow-Pike returned to operate Dodge T. Dog, who has been a regular on Iain Stirling’s kids’ panel show The Dog Ate My Homework. Meanwhile Petrie returned to host he CBBC travel show All Over The Place.
