Comedian attacked after telling punter to 'stop talking'

Assault caught on video

A comedian has been attacked on stage by a man in the audience he told to ‘stop talking’.

The assailant jumped out of his chair and punched Capital Pilcrow several times before being restrained by other punters.

His attacker – the only black man in the audience – apparently thought there had been a racial aspect to Pilcrow’s comments.

As chairs went flying, the man yelled at the comic: ‘I’m the only black n****er and you want to talk shit? Why is there no other black people here?’ You wanna act like you’re black? Where you from?’

The attacker punched a window as he was bundled out of the venue, shattering it.

The assault happened in the small performance space at the offices of community station Mutiny Radio in San Francisco this week and was captured on the venue’s CCTV.

It’s been reported that the attacker was another open mic spot known only as ‘Jeff’ who had become agitated when his name was inadvertently used in a joke.

According to a post on the Bay Area comedy network Facebook Page, Pilcrow made a joke about his own unusual name which coincidentally ended on the punchline ‘Jeff’.

‘Jeff’ was seen chatting to the woman next to him just before the attack, which was triggered when Pilcrow said: ‘I do know who you are, so shut, stop talking.;’
