SHEFFIELD The  Funhouse Comedy Club has a packed Edinburgh Festival Preview all-dayer at the New Barrack Tavern, kicking off at 2pm with Britain's Got Talent magician Mandy Muden and running into the night.

Monday July 29

LONDON: Kieran Hodgson presents 75, his impressive show about the start of Britain's fractious on-off - and now definitely off - relationship with the European Union at the Soho Theatre all this week.

Tuesday July 30

LONDON: As a warm-up for a one-off Edinburgh Fringe show, Tim Vine parks the puns, dons his fake quiff and girds his pelvis as he takes on the mantle of the King for Plastic Elvis Live in Concert at the Half Moon in Putney.

Wednesday July 31

EDINBURGH: There's a few gigs in town over the next few weeks, probably nothing to get excited about. Listings.

BRIGHTON:Bethany Black, Debra-Jane Appelby, Robert White and more stage a night of comedy and drag at the Komedia in aid of local LGBTQ people who are experiencing mental health issues.

LONDON: Nick Thune, a comedian and musician known for his absurdist worldview and deadpan wit, comes to Soho Theatre.  American comic love their credits, so let's report that he's appeared on The Tonight Show ten times, Conan twice, and Late Night once. 

Thursday August 1

EAST GRINSTEAD: Not every top comedian has decamped to Edinburgh, and even though a pub gig not far from Gatwick Airport might not sound auspicious, the  Comedy Beats night at the Dorset Arms offers some of the circuit's finest, with Carey Marx, Nathan Caton, Stefano Paolini and Andre Vincent.

Saturday August 3

READING: The Just The Tonic club night in Sub 98 offers a fine line-up, with powerhouse storyteller Glenn Wool the dry wit of Mark Maier and engagingly boisterous Barry Castagnola.
