Basil Brush to make his Fringe debut
Basil Brush is making his Edinburgh Fringe debut – with an adults-only show.
The national treasure – who was originally created in 1962 – will be performing his show Unleashed at the Underbelly Cow Barn at 6.45pm daily,
He promises to take on ‘everything from Love Island to Westminster’ alongside nightly guests.
A separate Family Fun Show takes place in the same venue at 1pm for the first two weeks of the festival.
Originally voiced and performed by Ivan Owen, Basil had his own TV show from 1964 to 1984, and he made a comeback in 2002 for a children’s BBC series for a further five years.
Since then he has appeared in The Chase, Bruce Forsyth’s The Generation Game, The Weakest Link, Celebrity Juice and The Last Leg.
Other comedy acts also announced for Underbelly today include Austentatious, Newsrevue, Rhys Nicholson, Garry Starr, Stevie Martin, Rachel Fairburn, Myra Dubois, Marlon Davis, Geoff Norcot, Harry and Chris, Double Denim and Viggo Venn.
