Katie Pritchard scoops musical comedy crown

With songs about history

Katie Pritchard has won this year’s Musical Comedy Award.

The comic, musician and actress impressed judges at the  Bloomsbury Theatre  in London with songs drawing on history.

Earlier this year she won the new act competition run by London venue 2Northdown, and in 2016 she won a similar title run by   Hilarity Bites, which runs gigs across the north of England.

Second place went to Stepdads – aka Luke Rollason and Tom Curzon – with their guide to being a stepfather.

Third place went to pop parodists Maris Piper, who also took the audience favourite award.

Other finalists were Louis Burgess, The Dragprov Revue, Huge Davies, Jamie Finn, Matt Hutson, Joe Jacobs, Charlie Partridge and Paul 'Silky' White.

This is the 11th year the competition has been run.
