Scottish comic jailed over campaigns of abuse

Scottish comedian John David McDade, who goes by the stage name JD Brown, has been jailed for four years and three months for his campaign of abuse against two women.

Airdrie Sheriff Court  also ordered the 37-year-old not to contact his victims for 20 years, the Scottish press has reported.

Sheriff Derek O’Carroll told McDade: ‘You pose a serious danger to any woman who is unlucky enough to be entrapped in your manipulative and controlling snares.’

The stand-up abused Leigh McDiarmid between 2011 and 2014, including locking her in his home and seizing her by the throat, pinning her down

It was followed by a three-year campaign of abuse against Rhea Jack, where at one point he recorded her  in a distressed state and threatened to send the footage to her employer.

The Daily Record has also reported that the comedian  has a previous conviction for assaulting his ex wife and two other women.
