New movie for Dave Johns
Comic Dave Johns is to star opposite Gavin & Stacey’s Alison Steadman in a new comedy-drama movie.
23 Walks follows pensioners Dave and Fern, two strangers who meet walking their dogs in a North London park and develop a romance over the course of their strolls together.
It is the latest big-screen adventure for Johns, after making such a splash in Ken Loach’s I, Daniel Blake in 2016. He has also appeared in British wrestling comedy Walk Like A Panther and Fishermen’s Friends, based around the real-life group of sea-shanty singers and due out in March, as well as some lower-budget offerings.
According to Deadline, which broke the news of the project, some scenes were shot in north London at the end of last year with filming resuming in the spring.
The film is being made by Little Ashes director Paul Morrison and produced by MetFilm, which made last year’s Rob Brydon comedy Swimming With Men.
