Five new dates for Still Game
Five new dates have been added to Still Game’s farewell run at Glasgow’s SEC Hydro – less than an hour after the first gigs went on sale.
Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill initially announced five gigs at the 10,000-seat venue in September next year.
But demand has been high enough to add extra shows on Friday October 4 to Sunday October 6, with matinees on the Friday and Saturday.
The ninth and final series of Still Game has been filmed and is expected to be screened on BBC One in the new year.
So the live run, uniting all the TV cast, has been called the ‘retirement party to end all retirement parties’.
Kiernan, who plays Jack Jarvis, said: ‘We decided a reasonable amount of time ago that we wanted to retire the characters permanently from television and theatre.
‘And there’s no doubt about it this time, Still Game is finished. There won’t be another comeback in a few years. This isn’t Sinatra.’
The team previously played the Hydro in 2014 – which promoted the sitcom return to the screen after a long hiatus– and in 2017. The cast also includes Paul Riley, Jane McCarry, Mark Cox, Sanjeev Kohli, Gavin Mitchell and James Martin.
Tickets for the shows are available here.
• Catherine Tate has also extended her 2019 West End run, adding an extra week of dates at the Wyndham’s Theatre from January 14-19.
