The Goodies' trandem is up for auction
The three-seater trandem bike used by the Goodies has come up for auction.
The vehicle, used by Bill Oddie, Tim Brooke-Taylor and Graeme Garden during their ITV years – is going under the hammer next month with an estimate of £1,000 to £1,500.
It had been owned by a more modern sketch trio, The Trap, who paid £600 for it on eBay in 2004. Dan Mersh, Paul Litchfield and Jeremy Limb, right, then fixed it up to make it roadworthy, so they could use it at the Edinburgh Fringe that year.
Only three trandems were ever made for The Goodies, two red ones for the BBC series (including the one pictured above) and this blue one, a slightly more modern-looking one for LWT.
It was originally built in 1980 for a Kleenex TV commercial featuring the trio before being deployed on TV. The trandem was sold to a private collector at a 1987 Sotheby's auction before he sold it on to The Trap.
It is going under the hammer at Surrey auction house Ewbank’s on October 4.
Auctioneer Alastair McCrea said: ‘Like Tommy Cooper’s fez or Ken Dodd’s tickling stick, the trandem is instantly recognisable in its association with the Goodies.’
