Get the Edinburgh Fringe in your smart speaker
BBC to offer a joke each day
Alexa is going into comedy.
Owners of smart speakers such as the Amazon Echo and Google Home will be able ask for a joke from the Edinburgh Fringe every day during the festival.
Users just have to ask the digital assistants: 'Give me a late night laugh' to receive a short stand-up clip.
The gags are being delivered via the BBC. In a short clip previewing the service, they say: 'You'll be able to bask in the blast of a comedy rocket launched by a different performer each night including stand-up legends and the best up-and-coming talent.'
'A different comic, a different gag every night. It'll just look like you're shouting at the furniture.'
The jokes will also be available as a podcast - albeit one with very short episodes.
