Real-life couple scoop comedy awards
The two winners of a bursary for female comedians taking their first solo show to the Edinburgh Fringe have been named - and they are a real-life couple.
Catherine Bohart and Sarah Keyworth both receive £500 towards their festival bills under the scheme, run by London's 99 Clubs.
Receiving their awards on stage, Keyworth joked: 'I feel I should propose now,' to which Bohart replied: '£500 isn't enough…’
Also competing for the awards tonight were Olga Koch, Adele Cliff and Jenan Younis. - all of whom received £100.
Both winning comics already have agents. Bohart is with Chambers Management, which looks after such big hitters as Jimmy Carr, Aisling Bea and Frankie Boyle, while Keyworth is with United Agents, whose roster includes Katherine Ryan, Alan Davies and Rob Bryton
The 99 Club bursary, now in its second year, is for female and non-binary performers. Last year the winners were Arna Spek and Lauren Pattison, who went on to receive a nomination for best newcomer in the Edinburgh Comedy Awards and who performed the headline set tonight.
