The Ranganation will pitch ideas to focus groups

Romesh Ranganathan is to host a topical panel show pilot for BBC Two.

In The Ranganation, he will be joined by comedian guests to discuss important issues of the week with the aid of focus groups drawn from a cross-section of society.

However, producers also state that they're looking for ‘opinionated and passionate’ people with their finger on the pulse of breaking news to audition.

The pilot is being made by Zeppotron, whose productions include 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Frankie Boyle's New World Order, The Mash Report and Would I Lie To You?

If commissioned, Ranganation would be Ranganathan's second current BBC project, along with the upcoming travelogue Romesh's Really Rough Guide.

He is also fronting the courtroom format Judge Romesh for Dave and piloting the predictions gameshow Romesh Looks Back To The Future for Sky.

Sky is also airing his sitcom The Reluctant Landlord and his celebrity interview series with Rob Beckett, Rob & Romesh Meet. He has also joined the regular cast of sports panel show A League Of Their Own.

Meanwhile, his documentary about trying to crack America by moving to Los Angeles, Just Another Immigrant, airs on US channel Showtime next month.

Rangananthan previously said that he is determined to break the US but that he 'has a few Loose Ends in the UK to tie up first'.
