At last! Inside No 9 wins a Bafta
Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith have won a Bafta for writing Inside No. 9
They triumphed in the best comedy writer category at in the craft section of the prestigious awards ceremony tonight.
It is the first time the acclaimed anthology show has been nominated for a Bafta, although they have scooped several other awards.
Pemberton and Shearsmith beat fellow nominees Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney for Catastrophe; Paul Coleman, Peter Kay and Sian Gibson for Peter Kay’s Car Share; and Daisy May Cooper and her brother Charlie for This Country.
However, the siblings did not go away empty-handed as they were awarded the Bafta Breakthrough Talent award for the BBC Three sitcom they wrote and starred in.
The main Bafta TV Awards will be handed out on May 13.
