Aisling Bea and Phil Wang head to Netflix
Aisling Bea and Phil Wang are to film specials for Netflix – lasting just 15 minutes.
The on-demand services has signed 16 up-and-coming comedians to introduce to subscribers with the shorter taster shows.
It follows last year’s series, The Standups, which gave half-hour specials to six rising stars.
The new series will be taped in front of a live audience in February at Terminal West in Atlanta, Georgia, US website Vulture reports.
As well as Bea and former Chortle Student Comedy award-winner Wang, who celebrates his 28th birthday today, those comics taping sets will be: Michelle Buteau, Tim Dillon, JR De Guzman, Sabrina Jalees, Janelle James, Sam Jay, Josh Johnson, Ian Karmel, Jak Knight, Matteo Lane, Max Silvestri, Taylor Tomlinson, Emma Willmann and Kate Willett.
Netflix is releasing a full-length stand-up each week with the likes of Dave Chappelle, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock Amy Schumer and Sarah Silverman all signed up.
And this weekend they recorded Jim Jefferies’ show in London and Hannah Gadsby’s in Sydney for future release.
