Breakfast job for Lovdev Barpaga

Comedian Lovdev Barpaga is to join Free Radio Birmingham in a shake-up the station its first local breakfast team in 15 years.

The stand-up, who was named the UK Pun Champion this year with lines such as ‘Never fly with Sikh airways. Get nothing but turban-lence’, will jon the station on January 22.

He will be part of a presenting team led by  Tim Warwood, who hosted CBBC’s  Wild! on CBBC and Lauren Crace, who played Danielle Jones in EastEnders.

Warwood said: ‘This is a dream come true – waking up the city I grew up in is such a privilege’.

It’s more than 15 years since a Brummie hosted the breakfast show on the station, which was previously called BRMB. Content director David Salt said ‘We want to match the success of this great city by delivering a breakfast show that truly represents it.’
