'Bit sick to make this up'
Limmy has been criticised for tweeting that Simon Cowell had died of a heart attack.
The Scottish comedian, real name Brian Limmond, told his 345,000 Twitter followers that the music mogul had died, using the official ‘breaking news’ of the BBC and Sky news to lend credibility to his fake news.
Cowell, 58, pulled out of last night’s X Factor live show following a fall in his home, which might also have worried fans.
He told The Sun that he had fainted due to low blood pressure.
While some of Limmy’s followers joined in with the presumed joke, others said the hoax was ‘sick’.
One said: ‘Bit sick to make this up’; another said: ’It's sick to tweet that about anyone. What if his family or friends saw it & believed it?’; and another added: ‘Not funny. His family and friends will be shattered if they read this.’
Cowell is married to Lauren Silverman and father to three-year-old Eric
