On addiction and recovery

Russell Brand is to present a radio programmes on a London community radio station.

The comic will talk about 'recovery' on the new weekly series, which will air on digital channel Zone 1 Radio from 8pm tonight.

The station says: 'Each week Russell talks to people in recovery, listening to their stories and experiences and sharing his insights.'

Each hour-long show will be followed by an hour's phone-in with trained counsellors.

Matthew Layton, managing director of Zone 1 Radio, told industry website RadioToday: 'There probably isn't a place for a show with this kind of ambitious scope and subject matter on the BBC or commercial radio. Community radio is probably the only place in the UK with the freedom to undertake a project like this.'

Brand recently returned to the more mainstream Radio X, with a two-hour show from 11am each Sunday.

And it has also been announced that he will be performing his latest tour, Re:Birth, at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre on Sunday July 30.
