Taskmaster gets a US remake
Taskmaster is to be remade for American TV, starring Reggie Watts.
Show creator Alex Horne will remain as the assistant when the show launches on Comedy Central.
The five comedians who will be taking on the bizarre challenges have not yet been announced.
Horne originally created the show at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2010, as a challenge among his comedian friends.
It has since become a hit on Dave – which has ordered a fifth series – and been nominated for a Bafta, Royal Television Society and Broadcast awards – and won a Chortle award last month.
Jon Thoday, joint managing director of makers Avalon Television, said: ‘It’s great to be working with Alex, Reggie and Comedy Central on making this innovative and funny programme for the US.’
Series four of Taskmaster starts on Dave next Tuesday and features Hugh Dennis, Joe Lycett, Lolly Adefope, Mel Giedroyc and Noel Fielding.
A Belgian version has already aired on VTM and the Swedish version is currently on air on SVT 1. Germany, The Netherlands and Finland are also working on their own versions, while the original UK show has also been sold to Australia and New Zealand.
