As panel show returns for 53rd series

Patrick Stewart is to host Have I Got News For You.

The former Star Trek actor will take the chair for the first time when the topical panel show returns to BBC One on April 21.

The two guests who will be joining Ian Hislop and Paul Merton when the show kicks off its 53rd series have not yet been announced.

Stewart, 76, said: ‘A long awaited and anticipated moment in my career has arrived. I am to host the season opener of Have I Got News For You. I could not be more delighted.’

The new series will run for nine episodes.
