Jim Tavare out of hospital
Jim Tavare is back at home – less than a month after the horrific crash that left him severely injured.
The comic revealed the extent of his injuries – 15 broken ribs, two broken clavicles, sternum, neck, wrist, smashed up femur, fibula and tibia – meant he still has no range of movement.
But he has been donated a ‘zero gravity’ chair from makers Human Touch, which he said was ‘amazing’.
‘[It] is really going to help my bones mend faster so I can start physio soon,’ he added, saying that he and his dog, Mr Kippy ‘can't thank them enough’.
Tavare was given a new metal heel and ankle by medics at the California hospital where he was treated.
The Essex-born comedian and wife Laura now life in the States, after Jim, now54, broke into the US market following his successful appearance on the 2008 series of reality series Last Comic Standing.
He spent 15 days in intensive care after the head-on collision at the start of last months. This is how he looked in hospital in the immediate aftermath of the accident:
Tavare’s friend Jim Perry has set up a crowdfunding page to help meet those bills, which has currently amassed £13,500.
