Julian wins an award for his hefty part
JULIAN CLARY has won the award for best leading male in the first ever Great British Pantomime Awards, for his role as Dandini in Cinderella at the London Palladium.
JAMES ACASTER has confirmed that he will be playing the Edinburgh Fringe – performing a rotating series of his past three shows: and Recognise, Represent and Reset in Pleasance One every night at 9pm. He has been touring with the same format of performing the three different shows on consecutive nights in each town. He also told the British Comedy Guide that he be filming the so-called ‘Trelogy’ in September and releasing them soon afterwards.
MRS BROWN is to play the Royal Albert Hall for the first time. The alter-ego of Brendan O’Carroll has joined the bill of the Symfunny benefit for Parkinson’s UK, which also includes Josh Widdicombe, Rob Deering, Jack Dee and the rest of the I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue team. Hosted by Jason Manford, it takes place on April 19.
AZIZ ANSARI’s Netflix comedy Master Of None is to return on May 12, the streaming giant has announced. The new series has his character Dev return to New York after travelling abroad, and comes 18 months after the Emmy-award-winning first season.
KEITH LEMON’s Celebrity Juice was named best satellite and digital programme at the TRIC industry awards last night. They don’t have a category for comedy (but they do have one for weather presenter, won by Carol Kirkwood last night.
