Series of short interviews for BBC Three

Romesh Ranganathan is to host a new chat show for BBC Three.

Comedians In Pubs Talking Comedy will do what its name suggests, with Jack Dee, Sharon Horgan, Russell Howard, Jayde Adams, Humza Arshad and Tim Renkow taking part in the six short episodes.

Its title echoes Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, with the content reflecting the growth in popularity of comedians-talking-to-comedians podcasts.

The BBC says: ‘In these one-to-one frank and funny conversations, [the comics] discuss their earliest memories in their comedy careers, from show flops to patronising fans and facing their fears through an engaging, empathetic and relatable pub chat.’

Romesh: Comedians In Pubs Talking Comedy was announced as part of The Idris Takeover, a season of content created and curated for BBC Three by  actor Idris Elba. 

Other programmes include include a series of five short dramas starring Elba which ‘question identity’, a series of documentaries telling inspirational stories about sport,  and a documentary about marginalised 17-year-olds in Scarborough.

Elba said: ‘There's a part of me in every aspect of this season; comedy, drama, documentary, sport all made by a truly diverse team both on and off screen

Romesh: Comedians In Pubs Talking Comedy will start on Monday March 27, via iPlayer, YouTube and the BBC Three website.
