Supporting role in female-led heist reboot

James Corden is to appear in Ocean’s Eight.

The Gavin & Stacey co-creator will appear alongside Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna and Helena Bonham Carter in the new female-led instalment in the heist caper franchise.

Corden will play an insurance investigator who becomes suspicious of the group. Hollywood website Deadline reports.

It is the latest US career boost for the comic since becoming host of CBS's The Late Late Show. He recently provided a voice in Trolls as well as the forthcoming Emoji Movie and Peter Rabbit.

Corden, a previous host of the Brit Awards, will also host the Grammy Awards next month.

Ocean’s Eight is due out in the summer of next year.
