Lucie Goose out next year

Danny Baker is to write his first children’s book, Lucie Goose.

The title, illustrated by rising star Pippa Curnick, will be out in autumn 2017.

It follows the adventures of a friendly goose who lives all alone in a house at the edge of the woods. She has never met or spoken to another animal of any sort until... a wolf, bear and lion turn up on her doorstep and try to scare her.

Lucie GooseBaker said: ‘This project which began as a casual aside is now the most wonderful thing I have ever been involved in. I hope that we happy band will skip about the maypole for many years yet.’

Baker, currently appearing in I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here, has previously written two volumes of his memoirs, Going To Sea In A Sieve and Going Off Alarming. The first formed the basis of the Peter Kay-starring BBC Two comedy series Cradle To Grace.

Emma Layfield, picture book publisher at Hodder Children’s Books said: ‘I am delighted launch Danny Baker’s career in children’s books. Lucie Goose is a wonderful book with Danny’s trademark wit and warmth.

‘I am also incredibly pleased to sign rising star Pippa Curnick, whose bright, engaging style suits the text perfectly.’
