Filming starts on new Outnumbered
Filming has begun on the new Outnumbered Christmas special – the first new episode of the family sitcom in nearly three years.
The BBC has also revealed that the 40-minute episode’s guest stars will include Miles Jupp, PhoneShop’s Martin Trenaman and Ruth Madeley, the actress with spina bifida who starred in ITV’s Brighton-set police drama The Level.
Set on Boxing Day, the plot for the new edition features the Brockman family facing ‘car problems, child problems, parent problems, emotional problems and World War Two.’
Stars Hugh Dennis, Claire Skinner, Tyger Drew-Honey, Daniel Roche and Ramona Marquez all return, with the script again written, directed and produced by by creators Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkin.
The image released to promote the show emphasizes how the child stars have changed. Marquez was six when the first series aired in 2007, and is 15 now.
Other guest stars are Daisy Edgar-Jones, Mark Benton and Katherine Jakeways.
Dennis said: ‘I can't wait to re-join our TV nucleus, and what better place to experience the full joy of family life than stuck in the family car?’ while Skinner said returning to the show was ‘like putting on a big comfy jumper’.
