BBC pilots comedy science show
The BBC is piloting a new comedy science show.
Dr Xand van Tulleken will present Second Opinion, which promises to put a comic spin on science-based news stories.
The BBC says audiences should ‘expect comedy, sketches, hidden camera stunts and studio games as well as frank interviews and genuine scientific revelation.’
Van Tulleken is the host of CBBC medical programme Operation Ouch! with his identical twin brother Chris, also a doctor. Earlier this year they presented Frontline Doctors: Winter Migrant Crisis, following refugees from their arrival on a Lesbos beach all the way to the Calais Jungle, and Xand has also fronted Doctor in Your House for Channel 4.
The pilot for the half-hour show has been commissioned by the BBC’s specialist factual department.
It is being recorded on Friday November 25 at The Hospital Club in Covent Garden, Central London. Free audience tickets are available here.
