Micky Flanagan announces new tour
Micky Flanagan has announced a new arena tour.
His An’ Another Fing show – which kicks off in Nottingham in May – will be his first in three years.
The comedian said he had enjoyed taking the time off when he announced the tour on Jonathan Ross’s ITV show last night.
He said: ‘Who wants to go and work all the time. When did this get put around? I did it. 17 years on the road as a stand-up comic. I’ve reached the top.’
And he added, jokingly: ‘I’m probably the best comic in the world so I thought, "Give the others a chance, Mick," because I’m a giver.’
But Flanagan said that despite enjoying the easy life of ‘being down the pub having a burger and a pint and reading the paper’ he always knew he would go back on tour because performing stand-up was ‘in him’.
‘My wife says to me, "It’s so much who you are, this person who has to be funny all the time that if you don’t do it there I’m going to have to deal with it a lot of the time and I don’t want to." My wife’s not got a great sense of humour if I’m honest with you…’
Flanagan has so far announced 16 dates, some in the late spring and some in the autumn, including the O2 Arena, Wembley Arena, Manchester Arena and Birmingham’s Barclaycard Arena. The full schedule is here. Tickets go on sale next Saturday at 10am.
The announcement comes after Sky confirmed that Flanagan’s new travelogue series Detours will air next year. The six-part documentary will explore 'big themes' such as the monarchy, class, gender relations and mid-life crises.
The DVD of Flanagan’s Out Out tour was the number 1 selling stand-up DVD of 2012, and was followed by Back In The Game in 2013/14.
