Before the Big Bang...

Sitcom producers plan a prequel based on Sheldon

Plans for a spin-off to the Big Bang Theory are in the pipeline.

The new sitcom would revolve around Sheldon Cooper,  the nerdy character portrayed by Jim Parsons.

However, the comedy would be a prequel about his young life, with a new actor cast in the role.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Big Bang Theory co-creators Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady are working on the idea with the hit sitcom’s showrunner Steve Molaro.

However neither broadcaster CBS and nor Big Bang Theories producers Warner Bros. Television have commented.

The sitcom has previously mentioned that Sheldon grew  up as a gifted youngster in Texas with a religious mother, who has been played by Laurie Metcalf.

The future of Big Bang Theory beyond its current tenth series is not yet secured, as all the cast – also including Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco – are in negotiations, and all seeking hefty pay raises.

The three main stars are paid a reported $1million per episodes.
