Comics named for Royal Variety show
Alan Davies, Joe Lycett and Rob Beckett are to appear on this year's Royal Variety Performance.
David Walliams will host the show, which takes place at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, West London, on December 6
He said he was ‘very honoured and excited’ to be presenting the event for a second time, having been ‘lucky enough’ to host in 2012.
The performance, in front of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, will be broadcast on ITV. With its large mainstream audience who might not normally seek out stand-up, the broadcast can prove a major boost to comics.
Neither Davies, Lycett nor Beckett have appeared on a Royal Variety Show before.
Also on the bill will be Sting, Robbie Williams, Emeli Sande, Sheridan Smith, Barry Gibb, One Republic, DNCE and Gary Barlow.
There will be performances from Barlow's musical The Girls, An American In Paris, Dreamgirls and Cirque Du Soleil's The Beatles Love show.
McFly singer Tom Fletcher will read from his book The Christmasaurus, Lance Corporal Richard Jones will perform his magic act, having won Britain's Got Talent, and dance troupe Diversity will return.
Next month’s event will be the 88th Royal Variety Performance, staged annually in aid of people from the world of entertainment who need care and assistance.
