The secret lyrics hidden in Red Dwarf theme
A sharp-eared Red Dwarf fan has uncovered lyrics that have been hidden in the show’s instrumental theme tune for more than 25 years.
The intro used on the comedy since 1989 includes composer Howard Goodall singing the show’s title four times. His voice was put through a vocoder, so it sounds like a synthesiser.
After the secret was unveiled by a user called Darrell on the Red Dwarf fansite
One revealed, Goodall tweeted: ‘I am honoured & delighted my vo-coded message from the past has been cracked.’
This version of the theme was introduced in series three, which aired on BBC Two, and is still used for series 11, which ends this week on Dave.
The theme played over closing credits has full lyrics, which begin: ‘It's cold outside, there’s no kind of atmosphere, I'm all alone, more or less…’ and Goodall has Published: 24 Oct 2016
