US gameshow for Ricky Gervais
Ricky Gervais is to star in an American gameshow.
The Office star is also executive producer on Five to Survive, which has just been commissioned for a full series by the ABC network.
It will feature adult contestants aiming to answer ten questions correctly. If they get one wrong they can get help from a panel of five children, with Gervais asking them the questins.
No host has yet been announced for the adult part of the show.
Gervais said: ‘I’ve never understood the saying ‘never work with animals or children. As a producer and director, I prefer either to Hollywood actors. They’re cheaper, they do as they’re told, and the filming hours are better.’
Robert Mills, a senior vice president at the network said of the show: ‘It has spirit, it’s fun and it will have the unforgettable comedic moniker that is Ricky Gervais.’
• Gervais today also announced another warm-up show for his forthcoming stand-up tour Humanity. It will be at the Theatre Royal Bath on December 4, with tickets going on sale here at 10am tomorrow – and priced £23.05
