Seinfeld becomes a slot machine
Seinfeld is to become a slot machine.
Producers Warner Bros and Castle Rock Entertainment have licensed the top-rated sitcom to gambling company Scientific Games, which will unveil its machine at the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas today.
In a press release that manages to sidestep any words like 'gambling' or 'betting', the company says the machines 'feature-rich gameplay fully captures the Seinfeld characters' antics, timeless humour and quirky plotlines.
And chief executive Derik Mooberry adds that the five-screen machine 'truly delivers an unforgettable slot experience that transports players all the way to 81st Street on New York City's Upper East Side.'
Features include a 'Festivus' wheel, named after the show's fake holiday, a live video featuring the 'Soup Nazi' and a bonus section based on The Contest, improbably based around the episode in which Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer swore off masturbation.
Castle Rock Entertainment Greg Paul said: 'We're pleased to showcase the wit, humour and antics of Seinfeld in an all-new and exciting format.
'As part of the global lexicon, the hit television series is ingrained in our pop-culture with favourite moments and phrases – like Yada, Yada, Yada, Master Of Your Domain, Man-Hands, Double-Dipping, The Costanza Wallet and so many more – this game is sure to reinvigorate these memories for fans.'
Seinfeld continues to be a cash cow, 18 years after the last episode aired. It has made more than £2billion in repeat fees alone, while the DVDs are the highest-grossing and fastest-selling titles of all time.
Last year Friends was also made into a slot machine:
