Amber Heard drops Doug Stanhope lawsuit
Johnny Depp’s ex-wife Amber Heard has dropped her defamation lawsuit Doug Stanhope.
The actress had sued the outspoken American comedian after he accused her of threatening to blackmail Depp during their bitter divorce fight.
Heard had accused Depp of domestic violence and released photosgraphs of her bruised face. The comic, a pal of Depp, then sprang to his friend’s defence in an article for The Wrap.
In the original lawsuit Heard said called Stanhope’s aricle was ‘filled with completely false, highly defamatory and very hurtful statements’ which caused her ‘tremendous harm’.
However, the TMZ website now reports the case has been dropped, quoting a source close to Heard as saying: ‘Amber is moving on, getting back to work and leading a normal, happy life.’
The couple settled their divorce last month, with the actress receiving $7million (£5.3million) which she would donate to charity. She has dropped the domestic abuse case.
