Lets call it Gigglebox...
The Gold channel has announced a new clips programmes in which comedy stars watch extracts from their favourite shows Gogglebox-style.
The celebrities in We Have Been Watching will critique British comedy favourites from the sofa while sharing stories from their own careers.
Those taking part include David Baddiel, Maxine Peake, Nigel Planer and Jo Joyner, plus the pairings of John Challis and Sue Holderness from Only Fools and Horses, Sally Phillips and Sarah Hadland from Miranda, Ricky Tomlinson and Ralf Little from The Royle Family, and Russell Tovey and Sarah Solemani from Him and Her.
And shows they will be watching over the six hour-long episodes will include Steptoe and Son, Morecambe and Wise, Father Ted and Fawlty Towers.
Commissioning editor Simon Lupton said, the ‘eclectic mix’ of comedians and comic actors bring the experience to ‘provide us with some incredibly insightful views,’ but added: ‘It is seeing them watch these shows as comedy fans that is the real treat.’
And Matt Crook, whose company Crook Productions is making the series, said: ‘What works so well is the very simple idea that comedians and comedy performers watch comedy differently. It's their instinct to enjoy, dissect and positively critique the shows, characters, script and performance.’
Other contributors include Richard Herring, Zoe Lyons, Nish Kumar, James Acaster, Jihnny Vegas and Diane Morgan.
The series will air later this year.
