RADIO: Mark Watson returns for a new Radio 4 series, assisted by Sam Simmons and Will Adamsdale. In the first episode of Mark Watson Talks A Bit About Life, the comedian and his 'henchmen' consider the work-play balance via stand-up, music, and more random interjections. Radio 4, 6.30pm
Wednesday August 24
RADIO: Josh Howie's Losing It, the stand-up's six-part sitcom, finally makes it to Radio 4, more than 16 months after being announced. The story revolves around Josh and his wife Monique (the name of his real-life wife too) preparing for the birth of their first baby. In episode one, the couple attend a family funeral where Josh manages to fall out with everyone and spectacularly fails to keep the news of the pregnancy under wraps. The cast also features a cast of familiar names from the live comedy circuit including Pippa Evans, Spencer Brown, Kerry Godliman, Steve Jameson and Peter Walsingham, also known as Downstairs At The King's Head promoter Pete Grahame. RADIO: Another day, another comic starting a Radio 4 comedy series. This time it's Tom Wrigglesworth with a fourth series of his Hang-Ups, based around the weekly phone calls he makes home to his mum, dad and gran in Sheffield. Radio 4, 6.30pm

LIVE IN EDINBURGH: Sharon Horgan in conversation with Frankie Boyle… that should be interesting. It's the Alternative MacTaggart Lecture as part of the Edinburgh International Television Festival – and the session, usually the preserve of telly execs, is open to the public for the first time. Tickets.
LIVE IN DUBLIN: International comedian du jour Amy Schumer begins her much-awaited trip this side of the Atlantic with a show at the 3Arena.
LIVE IN LONDON: Bill Bailey is wrapping up his Limboland tour with one final date at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith – which he's recording for a DVD release.
Saturday August 27
TV: Gold airs the Rob Brydon DVD tapeed during his first live tour, from 2009. 11pm.
