Russell Kane does Question Time
◼ Russell Kane is to appear on Question Time tonight - the first episode of the news debate show since the EU referendum. Also on the panel in Preston will be Conservative education minister Sam Gyimah, Labour's shadow foreign secretary Emily Thornberry, Ukip MP Douglas Carswell and Times columnist Melanie Phillips. Kane had originally been due to appear earlier in the month, but his appearance was postponed.
◼ THE finalists have been announced for the English Comedian Of The Year competition. The title, which is not restricted to new acts, will be decided at the Udderbelly on London's South Bank on Monday. Contesting it are: Adam Rowe, Chris McCausland, Eddie Brimson, Gordon Southern, Ian Smith, Joby Megeean,Joe Bor, Josh Pugh, Nick Page, Nina Gilligan, Rachel Fairburn and Tom Toal.
◼ INDEPENDENT DVD label Go Faster Stripe has released two new DVDs this week: Simon Munnery's new tour And Nothing But... and Iain Lee Live, in which the radio presenter talks of his love for the broadcast media.
◼ Nina Conti is returning to the West End. She will be reprising her improvised ventriloquist show In Your Face at the Criterion Theatre for ten nights from September 7 ahead of a UK tour. Dates, tickets and review.
◼ THE University of Connecticut has revoked an honorary doctorate it awarded to Bill Cosby in 1996, saying he engaged in conduct 'incongruent' with the values of the university. It's the first time the university has taken such action.
