Shirley Ghostman gigs finally materialise

Cancelled shows back on – 12 months late

Gigs postponed by psychic comedy character Shirley Ghostman have finally been rescheduled – a full year after they were initially cancelled.

Chortle has previously reported how fans of Marc Wooton's spoof spiritualist were furious at being left in the dark after a run of shows last October were pulled at the last minute.

They received no word from promoters SJM Concerts about when the new Spooktacular shows would happen – until today, eight months later.

Promoters said that the delays came because of 'availability and reluctance from other venues' and told fans: 'Your patience has been very much appreciated.'

Tickets for the postponed 2015 London dates will now be cancelled and the cost refunded as the new dates go on sale. A spokesman said 'loyal fans' who retained their tickets for the original run would get a chance to buy tickets for the new run before they went on wide sale.

Two London dates were originally scheduled for St James church, Piccadilly, but now the show will take place in Bush Hall over five nights from October 22.

Ghostman's date at Manchester Monastery has been rescheduled to Friday October 28, with original tickets still valid, or refunded from the point of sale if fans can't make that date. A second Manchester show been added on October 29.

Tickets for the new dates go on sale at 9am on Friday.

Ghostman had originally been scheduled to play Edinburgh's Queen's Hall and Bristol's St George concert hall, but these dates have not been rescheduled and ticket-holders can get refunded.

Back in May we reported fans' anger over the delays to announcing new dates.

One of them, Ian Jones, said: 'It's been over six months with thousands of pounds floating around in limbo with no resolution in sight. It's disgraceful to treat fans like this. There are a lot of unhappy people out there.'

There was never any suggestion that fans who requested refunds did not receive them, but ticket-holders were angry at being left in limbo.
