Izzard honoured for outstanding achievement
Eddie Izzard has won the outstanding achievement accolade at this year’s South Bank Sky Arts awards.
Host Melvyn Bragg, said: ‘Eddie Izzard is a marvel. He works across such a wide waterfront with an unmatchable, often uncatchable style and wit. We're delighted that he joins the ranks of those who have won this outstanding achievement award.’
Izzard follows in the footsteps of Tracey Emin, J.K Rowling and The Who in collecting the award.
It will be presented on Sunday at a ceremony at The Savoy Hotel, which will be broadcast on Sky Arts next Wednesday at 8pm.
Up for the comedy award in the 20th year of this event are Catastrophe, Peter Kay’s Car Share and Chewing Gum – whose creator Michaela Coel is up for the breakthrough award, contested across all the artistic disciplines.
