Lenny Henry joins Broadchurch
Sir Lenny Henry, Charlie Higson and Roy Hudd have joined the cast of Broadchurch.
They will join David Tennant and Olivia Colman in ITV’s award-winning drama, which started filming on its third and final series today.
Details of their roles in the eight-part series have not been revealed, but the broadcaster says they are ‘significant’.
‘This is the final chapter of Broadchurch,’ said Chris Chibnall. ‘We have one last story to tell, featuring both familiar faces and new characters. I hope it’s a compelling and emotional farewell to a world and show that means so much to me.’
Chibnall is to take over from Steven Moffatt as the showrunner of Doctor Who, for the series due to air in spring 2018.
The new eight-part series of Broadchurch will revolve around a new case for detectives Miller and Hardy, ITV says. Shooting will continue in Dorset and Somerset throughout the summer.
Julie Hesmondhalgh, Georgina Campbell, Sarah Parish, and Mark Bazeley are also joining the cast.
Yesterday it was also reported that Sir Lenny will be playing King Lear in a Jamaican production, expected to be filmed for a TV documentary.
