Jack Dee to play a hired killer

In new Radio 4 comedy

Jack Dee is to play a hired killer.

The comic is to star as a 'smug, crap' assassin in Peter Is A Hitman, a Radio 4 sitcom pilot recording later this year.

Written by the team behind Radio 4's sketch series Small Scenes – Mike Wozniak, Henry Paker and Ben Partridge – the show promises to be 'packed full of pacy jokes and snooker'.

Small Scenes previously featured skits with Daniel Rigby as a gravelly-voiced hitman going into business with the accountant he's been hired to kill, played by Paker.

Dee previously co-starred in the 2005 short film The Quiet Assassin, playing the obnoxious boss of Simon Greenall, who develops the ability to kill people with his mind.

Peter Is A Hitman is produced by Small Scenes' Simon Mayhew-Archer, who is currently shooting the second series of Josh for BBC Three, which also features Dee.

Also on Radio 4, Jake Yapp is piloting a blend of stand-up, sketch and interview in Jake Yapp Saves Humanity in 28 Minutes, promising to find solutions to the biggest issues facing the human race today.

Voicing many of the Dave channel's promos, Yapp came to prominence with his monologues on Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe and is a veteran radio performer and producer, perhaps best known for his YouTube parody Radio 4 in Four Minutes.

He will also be appearing at Chortle's Fast Fringe at Leicester Square Theatre on July 6. Tickets
