RTE orders 'post-Celtic Tiger cubs' comedy

Shooting starts on Can't Cope Won't Cope

Filming has started on a new Irish comedy series about two young women getting to grips with life in the big city.

Seana Kerslake and Nika McGuigan star in Can't Cope Won't Cope as Cork girls, Aisling and Danielle, who 'navigate Dublin and the perilous waters of adulthood'.

Programme-makers Deadpan Pictures say: 'Fuelled by vodka and bolstered by a sense of entitlement these girls run, as unfit as they are, away from the reality that awaits them.'

State broadcaster RTE 2 has commissioned six half-hour episodes, which will air in the autumn.

Amy Huberman, Norma Sheahan and Eileen Walsh will also make appearances in the comedy.

Producer Ailish McElmeel said: 'It's so exciting to bring an achingly truthful and funny series to the screen. Stefanie Preissner's writing truly is the voice of her generation and with the multi-award winning Cathy Brady directing we really are in new territory in terms of the Dublin we're exploring and the young women we're representing - depicting post-Celtic Tiger cubs very much at odds with the world they find themselves in.'
