UK dates for Todd Barry
AMERICAN Comic Todd Barry is coming to the UK. He will perform his Crowd Work Tour – which involves no material, just riffing with the audience – at the Pub/Zoo in Manchester on June 13, and the Soho Theatre from June 14 to 18.
I DANIEL BLAKE, the Ken Loach movie which stars stand-up Dave Johns, has been named as one of 20 films up for the prestigious Palme D'or at next month's Cannes Film Festival. Johns plays the title role, a 59-year-old joiner who needs help from the state for the first time after falling ill.
PADDY McGUINNESS is to appear in what is being billed as the world's biggest pantomime. He will play a jester in the £2million production of Snow White to be performed at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham and the SSE Arena at Wembley this Christmas. The show will feature a 45ft castle, special effects and a cast of 100 performers with a 30-piece marching band.
KEVIN HART says he could be quitting stand-up comedy. Speaking about touring, the Hollywood star told cinema-owners at a convention in Las Vegas: 'I don't know if I'm ever going to go out and do it again.' He added that his What Now? dates were 'my last fucking tour,' trade paper Variety reports.
JASPER CARROTT is to play Camp Bestival, it has been announced. His appearance at the family-friendly Dorset festival on July 31 will be his only UK festival gig. The weekend event also features appearances from Fatboy Slim and Tears For Fears.
