24's Chloe does stand-up
24 star Mary Lynn Rajskub is to perform a stand-up show at the Edinburgh Fringe.
The actress plays Chloe O'Brien, the most trusted colleague of Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer in all 204 episodes of the action series.
But she also has a comedy pedigree, being a cast member of Bob Odenkirk and David Cross's cult sketch hit Mr. Show. She has also taken guest starring roles in Flight Of The Conchords, Modern Family and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, among others.
Her show at the Assembly George Square Studios is entitled 24 Hours with Mary Lynn Rajskub, acknowledging her most famous role. In it she will talk about getting 'knocked up by a hunky stranger, becoming the good wife and mother, blowing all her cash, and taking an ex-girlfriend’s advice to invest in miniature horses to save her marriage'.
Hers is one of more than 60 Edinburgh Fringe comedy shows going on sale today.
Scottish sketch show Burnistoun will be at the Fringe for a ten-night run, after selling out a Glasgow Comedy Festival show at the King's Theatre in under an hour. Iain Connell and Robert Florence will revive characters such as Jolly Boy John in the show at the Gilded Balloon.
Katy Brand is turning away from the sketches that made her name with a stand-up show about being a teenage fundamentalist Christian, talking about the seven years in which she was 'an obnoxious, self-important dick, but at least she knew she was going to heaven. Now she's not so sure.'
Sally Phillips and Lily Bevan present a series of comic monologues in a week-long run of Talking To Strangers; quintruple nominee James Acaster returns to the Pleasance for a full run; Vegas and America's Got Talent star Piff The Magic Dragon has an 11-night run at Assembly George Square; and hotly-tipped former Chortle Student champion Jamali Maddix makes his debut – as does Russia Today's spoof TV presenterJonathan Pie.
Andrew Maxwell returns for ten nights at Assembly George Square; Dr Phil Hammond will discuss the NHS in a timely show; pun king Gary Delaney will be in town for a week-long run of his current tour, There's Something About Gary.
Stewart Lee, Mark Watson, Tommy Tiernan,Tony Law, Tom Binns, Max & Ivan, Hardeep Signh Kohli, Jason Byrne, Jimmy McGhie, Austentatious, South African comedian Loyiso Gola are all returning for new shows, too.
And Chortle's frantically paced showcase Fast Fringe returns for a daily run at the Pleasance Dome at 18.40 (Tickets)
