Ill Jenny Eclair pulls gigs
Jenny Eclair has cancelled two tour shows after coming down with a chest infection.
She found herself gasping for air while on stage in Walton in Surrey on Friday night and immediately pulled the next two shows.
Dates for the Y Theatre in Leicester on Saturday and The Stables Milton Keynes last night are to be rescheduled, with refunds available to fans who can’t make the new shows.
Eclair kept followers up to date on Twitter, posting after the first cancellation: ‘I’m on steroids for a chest infection, I was gasping for air on stage last night I’m so sorry everyone-I need to mend
‘So grateful for how kind people are being over rescheduled gigs-hate letting audiences down but need to be well enough to perform properly.
‘Being ill on tour is every performers nightmare, but there comes a time when it’s uncomfortable for the audience too- I’m so sorry.’
Eclair’s next date, at the Lowther Pavilion in Lytham St Anne’s, is still scheduled to go ahead on Wednesday.
It is the second time this tour, How To Be A Middle Aged Woman (Without Going Insane), she has felt unwell.
She began the run with a virus which, she said: ‘saw me begging for antibiotics three days before we kicked off’.
But that time, she said: ‘A combination of doctor theatre and good old prescription drugs got me through the first few gigs.’
